It is a very common thing to use inverter + battery to provide emergency home backup power. During a power outage, the inverter can convert the DC power in the battery into AC power for household appliances.
There are two ways to connect inverter batteries: series and parallel. Connect two 12-volt batteries in series, and the total battery voltage will become the sum of the two battery voltages, which is 24 volts. Connect two 12-volt batteries in parallel, and the total battery voltage is the same as that of a single battery, which is still 12 volts. Two batteries in parallel will generate twice the ampere/hour of a single battery; four batteries will generate four times the ampere/hour, and so on. This will extend the time needed to charge the battery, so you have a longer time to run the device.
Note: When connecting the inverter and the battery, do not reverse the positive and negative poles.
