In the grid-connected system:
The grid-connected system is connected to the mains through a grid-connected solar inverter. The grid-connected solar inverter can realize two-way power transmission between the grid-connected solar system and the grid. When the electricity generated by the photovoltaic panel exceeds the household demand, the system will output the excess electricity to the mains through the solar inverter, and the excess electricity will not be wasted. The whole process can be completed without a battery.
In the off-grid system:
Off-grid systems are not connected to the grid, and are usually used in remote areas with no or little electricity. They are often equipped with batteries to store electrical energy and inverters to output AC power for use at night and rainy days without sunlight. Of course, it is also possible for the photovoltaic panel and solar inverter to not be connected to the battery, but this means that you can only use the electricity output from the off-grid system when the sun is sufficient.
It is worth noting that many off-grid solar inverters on the market cannot be used without a battery. When you want to buy an off-grid solar inverter for an off-grid system that does not connect to a battery, you must understand whether the off-grid solar inverter can work normally without the battery.
